PUSHING THE LIMIT — GeekTyrant
The first trailer has been released for a new rock climbing documentary titled Adam Ondra: pushing the limitswho comes from the directors Jan Simanek and Petr Zaruba. I love watching these kinds of documentaries! I am in awe of athletes who can do such impressive and dangerous feats.
The doc follows four years in the life of Adam Ondra, “who is considered one of the best climbers in the world, as he prepares for and competes in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.” He is said to be “one of the few climbers who excels in both outdoor and indoor competitive climbing”.
Much of the film is also devoted to his Olympic pursuit, which sees him relentlessly training in indoor climbing, particularly the discipline of speed climbing, a vertical run that athletes in Tokyo had to complete to get a medal.
Featuring breathtaking landscapes and rock climbing scenes, the film also shows the intense media interest and pressure that Ondra faces as he prepares for the biggest challenge of his career. Šimánek and Záruba, both climbers themselves, offer an intimate account of Onda’s public and private life alongside the unwavering support of his wife, Iva, who plays a key role in the film.
Although I’m more interested in the outward side of the sport, it’s interesting to see the training that Ondra has to go through to be able to do what he does. Šimánek said in a statement: “He has won just about every championship that exists. His main achievement was when he climbed ‘Silence’, the hardest route in the world, in Norway – no one has. done since because it’s so difficult.
I would love to see pictures of that! Check out the trailer below. Adam Ondra: pushing the limits will have its world premiere at Visions du Réel on April 11.
